After a harrowing week here at 750 Volts, I have upgraded to Wordpress 2.0, and my database isn’t dead! Hallelujah. Back to regular posting.
The unfortunate part about this is that I have wiped out my old template. I was getting sick of it anyway.

After making a strained wisecrack about how the General Assembly is stuck not in R or D but in P about transportation, the Daily Press headlines a writeup with “GA seems to be stuck in neutral”. Now someone needs to write a story headlined with a lame play on the lower gears of the stick.

People rarely dream of being elected to the proverbial office of dogcatcher. However, there are real offices just as obscure that have their campaign antics.
I’m a firm believer in the concept of representative democracy, like most of us here in America are. However, there are some offices that simply shouldn’t be elected. Some offices should [...]

There is an old one-liner in Democratic circles: to go backward, you put your car in R, but to go forwards, you put your car in D. While this unfailingly gets laughs, the General Assembly is undeniably stuck in P as the second week of the Special Session looms over the future of Virginia.

750 Volts turns from its focus on politics to a temporary slide into posts on moi
On the eve of the AAA Northern Region debate tournament, we (the royal we!) here at 750 Volts have finished our last-minute card cutting (predictably, I love running Politics DA’s), and will most likely not be posting tomorrow. Not that [...]

There are some fundamental commandments of argumentation. Amongst them are 1) you can’t beat city hall, 2) arguing with your female signifigant other usually results in maiming, and 3) Tim Kaine always wins. It appears that Danny LeBlanc will get a job in the Kaine administration after all, making the state salary as he would [...]

750 Volts takes a foray into the world of pop psychology…
Science says so! Whiny wimpy kids grow up into conservatives, who are generally happier than the confident, self-reliant kids who end up unhappy liberals.
So much for stereotype.
Conservative columnist George Will gleefully reported a Pew Research Center study that shows year after year self-identified conservatives say [...]

Virginia politics can be summed up in the age-old two cows joke.
You have two cows.
Kids drink the milk.
The cows are hit by a speeding school bus.
Luckily for us, school bus drivers may soon be allowed to travel at a blistering 45 miles per hour. Wooo! It will not wake me up in the mornings.
You have [...]
