I’m going trick-or-treating as “Felix Macacawitz” (thanks NRO!).
CD2: Dissecting Constituent Dynamics.
On November 9th, the folks behind Constituent Dynamics will either be the most hailed or most disgraced pollsters in the history of statistics. They are giving me numbers that I so desperately want to believe, but really can’t. If they’re to be believed, the Democrats will end up with 240 seats in the House, plus [...]
EIGHT DAYS–DEMS +7–WEBB, FORD, MCCASKILL
The end is nigh for the Republican Senate. [Pollster]
The two open seats (Tennessee and Missouri) now show either a tie or a slight Democratic lead. In Virginia, Jim Webb has surged to the front.

VA Bloggers: Put Your Pride Where Your Mouth Is
I’ve started up the bipartisan Virginia Political Bloggers 2006 Prediction Pool. You don’t win any money or prizes yet. You can change your predictions all the way up to Election Day if you feel like it.
Hm? Who’s got the guts and/or sheer brazen audacity? Democrats: do you REALLY think we’ll win in a wave? Republicans: [...]

The knee-jerk condemnation from conservatives of the New Jersey Supreme Court decision in favor of equal rights for gays under the law was not surprising. Unfortunately, they brought out a well-worn tape filled with boilerplate on “activist judges.” Take George Allen’s: “Today’s decision by the NJ Supreme Court is another example of activist judges inventing [...]

The Ft. Worth district that, responding breathlessly to a sudden pandemic of school shootings (cough), taught elementary school kids how to charge a gunman, has now reversed course. American education is moving forward.
Okay, teaching kids running toward gunman is bad, done. Next up, reading, and getting “Intelligent Design” out of the way.
Control of the Senate and how it may hinge on Virginia.
It has been banged repeatedly in our heads that the Democrats need six seats to win back the Senate, and it has also been rather clear that the Democrats can easily pick up four: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana, and Rhode Island. The remaining two seats would come from open seats in Missouri and Tennesee. If the [...]

Developments in science.
From the ivory towers of academia:
Binghampton University researchers measure how social Sprague-Dawley rats are when drunk to prove that adolescents develop acute tolerance to alcohol, at great expense. Begs the question, what, exactly, do both Sprague-Dawley rats and teenagers do when drunk? Make more Sprague-Dawleys? … Blacks aren’t getting a fair shake in Medicare, getting [...]
