Well, Dave Albo has learned his lesson, telling the Washington Post that “you can’t fight the internet.” He’s only half right, though–you can’t fight angry constituents, the internet just makes you an easier target.
Kentucky lawmakers are not as appreciative of the spirit of free discourse the internet provides. A pair of House Representatives introduced HB775, which would make anonymous comments online punishable by a $500 fine. Likely sponsored by a pair of doddering fools who can barely operate a touch-tone telephone, this doozy of a bill copies an attempt by the Chinese Communists to ban anonymous blogs. China eventually backed down.
It’s too bad that one of our neighboring states decides that it can do better than the ironfisted Chinese Communists. I grow weary.
